CSA Piano Offerings
Piano Preparatory Program
The Piano Preparatory program is the preferred track for youth seven and eight years old who are beginning piano studies. This tried and true plan has proven itself with remarkable results at Goshen College for more than 30 years.
Classes are organized each fall for this program, and registration assumes a one-year commitment. Students receive a 30-minute private lesson each week, plus a 60-minute group lesson most weeks of the two 16-week semesters. Cost per semester is $365.Lessons begin the week of August 25, 2008.
For first-year piano prep students, a short interview with the Piano Program Director is required before registration. Interviews will be held on August 18 from 2-5 p.m. To schedule an interview, please call the Music Center Main Office at (574) 535-7361.
Traditional Piano
Private instruction for older beginners and intermediate and advanced students. Prices for instruction are:
- 30-minute weekly lessons for 16-week semester: $320
- 30-minute weekly lessons with GC student intern*: $280
- 45-minute weekly lessons for 16-week semester: $455
- 60-minute weekly lessons for 16-week semester: $615
* Student interns are Goshen College students who are studying music and are proficient on their instruments. CSA students who study with them receive quality instruction at the same time the intern receives valuable teaching experience. Teaching interns are not always available for a given instrument or situation, but if you are interested in checking this option with us, you may note that on the space provided in your registration form.
Piano Lessons for students with special needs
The Community School of the Arts in cooperation with the Foundation for Music and Healing Inc., is offering piano lessons for those with special needs. Limited placements are available. Contact 574-234-0928 for a free evaluation.
GC and CSA keyboard instructor Christine Thögersen has worked extensively with Dr. Chris Robinson at this South Bend-based non-profit organization. She is prepared to teach students through the CSA using the innovative techniques which have proved so successful in Dr. Robinson's program.
Students of all ages who have special needs ranging from mild to severe are assisted through this initiative. The mission is to create a safe place where students and their families may experience the joy and comfort of music, promoting mental and psychological well-being and physical wellness.
Cost is $320 per semester (plus registration fee) for 16 weeks of instruction. Private 30 minute lessons are arranged to suit schedules of student and teacher.
