Construction
From beginning site work in September of 2000, twenty-three months elapsed until the Music Center was ready for use in August of 2002. Site work included preparing for a courtyard adjacent to the lobby, landscaping, parking for 250 cars, a 12 th Street entrance, sidewalks linking to campus, and connecting drives to other parts of campus.
Building coordinator John D. Nyce worked closely with the design team, composed of members from Schmidt Associates Mathes Brierre Architects, Casteel Construction Corporation , and the Talaske Group, to implement plans for the 68,000 square foot building.
Official Music Center dedication ceremonies were held October 4-6, 2002 , during which the facility was dedicated “as a place where artists and apprentices can give glory to God through the arts.”
