Church Music
The Music Center seeks to be a place where individuals can meet God. Through concerts, recitals, hymn sings, worship events and workshops, the Music Center offers programming that enriches faith. Like Bach, we offer our music “Soli Deo Gloria” – To God Alone Be Glory.
Each year, special events are held that focus on Music and Faith.
- Workshops and Special Events. Events have included a one-day workshop with John Bell on the topic of “The Voice of God’s People.”
- Contemporary Christian concerts are held in Sauder Concert Hall. Performers have included the Paul Coleman Trio and Ken Medema.
- Hymn Sings. Approximately six times throughout the year, hymn sings are led by faculty, area church music leaders, or other guests.
- Morning Song is a Sunday morning worship service held in Rieth Recital Hall at 11:00 a.m. every Sunday that Goshen College is in session. A fellowship time begins at 10:45. Morning Song worship always includes much singing (both hymns and praise and worship songs), a brief homily, and a reflection time. Students are encouraged to offer their gifts, including music and worship leading, as well as preaching. Morning Song is an extension of College Mennonite Church and jointly planned by students, faculty and church members. All are welcome!
